An exciting rumour beginning to surface in Ibiza, is one that tantalisingly suggests, that the much loved and iconic, We Love Sundays party at Space, could be making a triumphant return to the club in its final season. After the failure of Luciano and his Cadenza Vagabundos to capture the imagination of the Ibiza faithful last year, it now looks increasingly unlikely that it will return to Space on Sundays this summer. Rumours are now suggesting that Pepe Rosello’s club are in talks to re-launch We Love Space and return it to its rightful position as the Sunday institution on the island, but without the association of its founder, Darren Hughes.
In April of last year, the blog exclusively broke the news that Hughes and Space had split up after a disagreement over the creative direction of the party. Hughes, in what turned out to be an ill advised move, rebounded We Love to Sankeys on Wednesdays, where it was out of place in the dark, basement environment of David Vincent’s Manchester inspired venue. The blog understands that Hughes is talking to other clubs with a view to continuing his personal concept of We Love outside of Space and Sankeys and that the new We Love Space event will be a joint association between it and an UK promoter.
The Trademark for, We Love Space, was registered to Space Ibiza Planet SL and its club manager, Juan de Austria, in August 2005 so the club has the rights to trade under the We Love Space banner which lends weight to the rumour that it will return this summer. The blog is hearing that the winner of our Best New Ibiza Party Award, the Do Not Sleep party, could associate with We Love Space on Sundays this summer. The in demand party has been linked to a number of clubs already as Amnesia, Space and Sankeys were rumoured to be in the running to poach it from the Vista Room at Privilege, where it was a popular hit in only its first season on the island. Stay tuned to the Blog as we expect further developments on this exciting story soon.
