Davey Brown, a Newcastle-based artist, is a unique talent who specialises in stylish portraits of the world’s best and most famous DJs, movie legends, plus stars of music and sport. Following his successful tour around the UK and Ibiza with his exhibition, ‘The History Of House’, Davey is now ready to unveil a new and exciting show. In February 2024, ‘The Queens Of House And Soul’ took place at Q nightclub in Shoreditch, London. The exhibition featured forty portraits of iconic figures, including Aretha Franklin, Barbara Tucker, Angie Stone, and Alison Limerick.

The event was a celebration of diversity, with Judge Jules, Gordon Mac, and Craig Williams spinning the decks, and live singing performances from Angie Brown and the debut of rising star Phoebe O’Riordan. Amanda O’Riordan’s curation played a crucial role in making the show a resounding success. Q was packed to capacity, and it truly was a night that exceeded all expectations.

And now the follow-on exhibition is about to be launched. ‘The Kings Of House And Soul’ is heading to London and due to the success of the Shoreditch show, dates in Newcastle and Ibiza have been added. This brand new collection of paintings includes portraits of James Brown, Frankie Knuckles, Luther Vandross and Armand Van Helden, each capturing the essence of these legendary figures in a unique and captivating way.

The event is a unique blend of an art exhibition and a book launch. Davey’s book, ‘Time To Shine’, is a profoundly personal account of his art, exhibitions, House music, Ibiza, and his journey from a council estate in Newcastle to Ibiza, where he has worked with some of the island’s elite. Davey’s story is one of resilience, overcoming adversity, and fulfilling dreams. The book includes exclusive interviews with Judge Jules, Amanda O’Riordan, Gordon Mac, Nicky Holloway, Javier Anadon, Jim ‘Shaft’ Ryan, Trevor Fung, Phoebe O’Riordan, and DJ House Foundation’s Paul Riseley.

Art, music and personal triumph.

It is a fascinating story of a working-class lad who was told by his art teacher that he would never make anything of himself in the art world, but who went on to become an internationally recognised artist, albeit with a lot of twists and turns along the way. Davey’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and self-belief, and his story is sure to inspire and resonate with many.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to witness the convergence of art, music, and personal triumph. The book launch and art exhibition start in San Antonio Bay on Thursday, September 18th, 2025, at the Cafe Mambo owned Las Mimosas hotel.

Ibiza legend DJ Pippi will be providing the music along with Paul Riseley of DJ House Foundation and Newcastle’s DJ Benny Young, who is making his debut on the White Isle. Then Davey is taking the show to Undr in Notting Hill, London, on September 25th (DJs TBC), before he heads home to Newcastle to bring the event to a close with a very special night at Pilgrim. Judge Jules and DJ Benny Young are on the decks, plus there is a special live singing performance from Phoebe O’Riordan, daughter of Judge Jules.
