A number of staff and creditors associated to Sankeys Ibiza, have indicated that they will protest outside the club in Playa den Bossa in a bid to recover monies they claim are owed to them. A spokesperson for the group, Andrea Gomez, stated that; “we are a group of staff and suppliers & we have not been paid since August 2017. We are going to protest at the club so anyone wanting to stop this action please help us”. The cry for help was supported by influential underground DJ and ex resident of Sankeys, Darius Syrossian, who commented; ” So Sad to see this, but if true, then i think it’s only fair people who worked so hard for the club are paid, and debts cleared”.
When the ill fated Booom was aggressively taken over back in 2014, the new owner published a notice in the local press and social media, that he would not be held liable for debts owed by the previous owner. The club never opened again and is now lying derelict, with rumours suggesting it is to be demolished and the car park around it redeveloped as valuable real estate. With the Opening Party a little over two weeks away, and protests planned for the club, it’s increasingly unlikely that Sankeys will make its May 10 deadline. We hope for all concerned that a resolution can be found in time to rescue the Manchester based brand from going under the shark infested waters of Ibiza clubland.
