A report out today in a Spanish newspaper, has poured cold water on controversial plans to refurbish the old Reco des Sol Hotel in San Antonio into the new Space project headed up by Pepe Rosello. Instead the Hotel, for now, will upgrade to a 5* business Hotel as part of an ambitious new 6 year redevelopment plan for the popular sunset resort. While the new tourism model will be welcomed by the majority of the residents in San Antonio, those outside the island will be more interested in the future of the Space project after its departure from Playa den Bossa last October.
There are numerous rumours floating about as to the future plans of Space and Pepe Rosello, but the common thread among them, is that the much loved son of San Antonio is actively seeking a location for the next chapter of his Space voyage which could link into the new plans for his home town where he would carry influence and respect. While Reco des Sol may be a non runner, after an effective lobby by local residents, the blog understands that Space has already acquired another San An Hotel. The manager of Space, Juan Arenas, is also rumoured to be connected to Privilege and that has led to reports that parties such as Elrow and Afterlife will join Arenas at the San Rafel Club which was managed by ex Space promoter, Mo Chaudry.
At this time of the year, promoters are in the initial stages of contract negotiations and bouncing offers off the different clubs, so there is always plenty of speculation as to where parties may end up next season. With a casualty or two already rumoured for Amnesia and one at Pacha and DC10, there is much to play for in the transfer window between now and March. While it may be a little early to pin our colours to the mast this side of Christmas, we do expect to have plenty of news in the new year as there are sure to be a few plot twists between now and then.
