A new daytime club, in the style of Ushuaia, is set to open in San Antonio next summer. Ocean Club Ibiza will be the name of a brand new venture built on the old S’embarcador restaurant site near to the Hawaii Hotel at the start of the Bay. It will feature boutique pool beds, three bars, two restaurants and may copy the Ushuaia Beach Hotel concept with parties kicking off at 5pm. The Club will be managed by the team at nearby Linekers, with Wayne Lineker and Tony Truman closely involved in the development. While Linekers Bar continues to be a success, their last club venture BoHo, which was held in the old Extasis Club, failed to ignite and was closed in 2009. Not daunted by the failure of BoHo, the team have bravely jumped into the deep end with such a costly and risky development in San Antonio.
Artists Impression of Ocean Club Ibiza |
With the natural presence of sunset and beach on their doorstep, The Ocean Club should benefit from the large tourist footfall that passes by its door from the Bay area. It will offer the clubbing and party punter a daytime and evening alternative from the sunset strip bars of Cafe Mambo and Cafe Del Mar situated on the opposite side of the bay. Marketing and DJ line up, will undoubtedly be the key factors in determining the success of the new venture. Its relationship with the local Police and business will also be important. One thing that is for sure, is the welcome upgrade and development of the San Antonio image. The exciting new development that is Ocean Club Ibiza, deserves the support of San An regulars and Holidaymakers for its brave new direction and we wish them all the very best of luck for the 2012 season.
