Javier Anadons expanding Mambo Group, which owns a number of well known bars and restaurants in Ibiza, has signed a deal to take over the management of Hostal La Torre in Cap Negret. Speaking to the Blog last week, Mr Anadon confirmed that his company will be re-branding the old venue “La Torre by Mambo” when it launches next season. The property which is owned by a local Ibicenco family was previously run by Pere Gaul but with the lease up for renewal last year, it attracted a number of well known brand names to the bidding process. The property has a prime and enviable location in an area that is tipped to become the new Chelsea of San Antonio. The Matutes group have unveiled plans to build a five star complex at the old Tanit Hotel location at nearby Cala Gracio and a Dutch company last year purchased the large Stella Maris Hotel site, which Ibiza Rocks was an under bidder for.
The Mambo group already own a business in the area with El Chiringuito at Cala Gracionetta, which is a popular venue for weddings and the acquisition of La Torre on a 20 year lease, will see its portfolio of businesses grow on the island. The property is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment and Mambo hopes to have it open and trading for business next month. Living closeby to La Torre, Mr Anadon understands the unique and unspoiled beauty of the area and has stated that he is committed to retaining the original spirit of La Torre but with improvements in facilities, service and food, which is the hallmark of the quality Mambo brand.
While many people will lament the loss of the old La Torre, one has to acknowledge that landlords will always seek to maximize the return on their assets. If there is to be a new owner at La Torre, then it is best that it is now in the hands of the Anadon family who have invested so much to improve the image of San Antonio. With 12 rooms, La Torre by Mambo, will be its first Hotel on the island and most likely, wont be their last. The ambitious group has spread its wings in recent years with the help of Javier’s sons, Christian and Alan, aka The Mambo Brothers and the group is actively seeking new investments in the property market in Ibiza. We wish them all the best at La Torre and place our trust with them that they will remain true to its Ibicenco personality and character.
