While many are still trying to digest the Cocoon to Pacha news, the island remains a hive of activity with regard to rumours and potential transfers of some well know parties and the end of the camino for others. As we near the middle of February, the month of make or break negotiations, there seems to be quite a lot of movement and jockeying for position by promoters and clubs. The Cocoon move has really put the cat amongst the pigeons, and it seems no party is regarded as a safe bet anymore and anything could happen. Its all to play for as we take a look at the rumours that are gathering pace right now.
As we predicted its going to be a good year over at Hi Ibiza, as already they have confirmed Eric Prydz and Black Coffee, two of their star performers from last year. Much speculation surrounds Thursday and Sunday nights at the club. Rumours are suggesting that we may loose Into The Dark on Thursday night, to be replaced by another dark themed party that once resided at Space. Sunday is all about Solomun. Will he leave Pacha for Hi or will Amnesia make a late offer? This is the big question and one gets the impression that the roaming Croatian, who was seen at a lot of Villa parties last summer, has not made up his mind yet, as he astutely plays the waiting game. There are conflicting reports circulating, with Amnesia also said to be chasing his signature. However, he would be favourite to stay at Pacha, if they can absorb the costs of their inflated DJ invoices and shiny new refurbishment.
Amnesia have already rocked us with the Cocoon break up and all the speculation has been around what will replace them on Monday nights. Its a big act to follow for any promoter to take over a slot held by such an institution of a party, and while there has been a lot of DJ’s mentioned for the vacant position, its still unclear what is going to happen on Monday nights as Sven’s departure seems to have caught Amnesia by surprise. Will Maceo Plex and Mosaic from Pacha to Privilege or Amnesia? Lets see what happens. Other big news at Amnesia concerns the future of one of the islands longest running parties Cream, can it survive another year? The departure of the respected Nick Ferguson from Cream this year, has only fuelled the rumours surrounding the future of the long running party, but one get’s the feeling that sadly, its days are numbered in Ibiza.
Stay tuned to the blog this week as we hope to have further big news regarding two venues in San Antonio and one in Playa den Bossa. Also, a few well know Ibiza DJ’s that are having difficulties finding an Ibiza home this summer.
