On the blog this week; how to incorporate your very own three-‐day wellness retreat into your Ibiza visit on a budget.
Principles of a cleanse or detox What is it? Cleansing or detoxifying enables the body to perform it’s own inner clean by reducing the amount of work it has to do day in, day out. Giving it a rest so to speak.
Recommended mental and physical preparation is optional, but I know you can master the art of a mini cleanse with that brilliant mind of yours for that wonderful body of yours! If you want to go deep, check out cleanse.com, but otherwise avoiding toxins is not harmful to your health (although quitting caffeine can cause headaches).
- No stimulants (recreational drugs, caffeine, sugar, alcohol, dairy produce or meat) for 72hrs
- No news, social media or at least reduced to once per day for as short as possible.
- No complaining, if you do be aware and stop. Smile and hug instead.
- Drink Lemon water upon rising to flush your system out.
- Drink plenty of water throughout the day.
- If your place has a blender use it, if not fruit salad or soaked oats for breakfast for you!
- No cooking facilities – stock up on nuts, raw bars and pre made pulses and grain dishes in the organic supermarkets.
- Eat nuts, fruit and veg as snacks.
- Check out how to do the 5 Tibetans online. I find it the easiest, fastest all round body toning and balancing routine ever. Oh and it promotes youthfulness!
- Bring pen and paper so you can get writing, composing, drawing or scrawling.
- Bring inspiring literature to get tucked into or pop into Libro Azul in Santa Gertrudis and stock up.
Enjoy, Virginia Feelgood
Part One Do it yourself (and on the cheap)
On a budget, assuming you have accommodation and transport within your price range.
Day One Prep and Move
(feel free to mix days activities to suit your timetable – which is - relaxed!)
Essential first steps
- Visit Can Musson to stock up on fruit and vegetables. Just outside Santa Eulalia this lovely family run farm offers tea and cake as well as freshly plucked vegetables and fruits.
- Or pop into one of the many ecological supermarkets in Ibiza or Santa Eulalia. They stock ready-‐made pulse and bean salad portions for about 5 euro. Perfect for a picnic or if you cannot be bothered to cook quinoa! If you don’t have a juicer stock up on coconut water, perfect for cleansing.
- Activity. Join in one of the Free Yoga classes available
or if you want to splash out yoga on the beach with healthy breakfast
- Have a huge salad with nuts and quinoa for dinner.
- Go outside as the sun goes down and write a list of 30 things you are grateful for.
- Go to bed early.
Day Two Inland
- Go outside and do the 5 Tibetans to start the day.
- Have fruit juice or fruit salad breakfast or oats soaked in almond milk (unless you have a nut allergy then go for oat milk!).
- Join Ibiza Walking Tours for a hike around the island, fees are a donation.
- Then eat salad, collapse and sleep!
- If day two is a Saturday pop to Mercado de Forada, local produce market. Where you can eat cheap veggie paella and listen to Casita Verde’s sound system with all the other families.
- Treat yourself to a raw ravioli or lasagne at Wild Beets in Santa Gertrudis – it does not come healthier than this (Main course 9-‐15 euro).
- Go to bed early.
Day Three Beach
- Go outside and do the 5 Tibetans to start the day.
- Fruit salad, juice or soaked oats for breakfast.
- Activity Pop down to the Port of San Miguel and hire a kayak for an hour (15euro), then relax on the beach.
- Use the sand to exfoliate your extremities. Give yourself a foot and hand massage.
- Visualize your body in perfect health and anything else positive that pops to mind.
- Lunch on salad at Utopia (over the hill) 12euro upwards or munch on a picnic you have brought.
- If it is a Sunday, dance barefoot to the beats of the drums during sunset on Benirras Beach.
- Have another lovely salad and gratefulness session before getting oodles of sleep.
- You have now done a three-‐day cleanse on a budget.
