One of my favourite sunset bars in Ibiza is Kumharas, located in the family friendly resort of San Antonio Bay. With its distinctive, Ibicenco stone round tower feature, Kumharas has always been a friend of the Real Ibiza vibe. A friendly, laid back and universal feel about the place where everybody is welcome, from small children to grandparents and singles to couples. Its a bar where many people make the Ibiza connection and is a small haven of tranquillity amid the commercial tourism of San Antonio. A welcome addition to Kumharas, is the family themed Pirate Sundays, where children are welcomed to a day of fun filled activities including Costumes, Pirate Water Fights, Story Telling, Treasure Hunts and Parrot Shows. Starting at 12 midday, Its a free party for the kids on land, but for the highlight of the day, the party takes to the high seas, as the family go in search of hidden beaches and treasure coves aboard a special Pirate Ship. A children’s menu is available and there is a charge for the Pirate Boat Trip. Its an ideal way for the family to try something a little different and experience the Pirate culture of Ibiza made famous by Pirates such as the dreaded Red Bearded Barbarossa, in the early 15th Century. The Pirate towers that still stand on the Ibiza Coastline today, were all built to warn Islanders of impending attacks of the Pirates who ruled the seas around Ibiza until 1830.
