How did we forget to add a “Best Track Ibiza 2013” award in the categories released for the Dannykay Awards nominations posted last week? Well thanks to the many emails and messages requesting that we include the summer musical highlights, the Blog has put together some of the most popular tracks of the Ibiza summer 2013 season. It was a good year for music on the island and the genre that certainly made a breakthrough this summer, especially with a younger generation, was the Bass Music scene. Sub Focus, Chas and Status and Rudimental were the acts everybody wanted to hear and they are sure to be in big demand next summer. House music and its sub-genres, still held sway around the island and the minimal tech sound (pioneered by Cocoon) seemed to be where all the “trendy” DJ’s wanted to be this season. For me personally, the islands true personality is best reflected by House music but as it feeds into most other different styles and sounds, all musical tastes are welcome in Ibiza. Below are six tracks that I feel best reflect a cross section of the musical summer season in Ibiza.

NINETOES-FINDER
A track with a real Ibiza summer vibe best reflecting the islands personality.

FOALS – LATE NIGHT (Solomun Remix)
A killer re-edit from the Man Who Would Be King, Solomun.

STORM QUEEN – LOOK RIGHT THROUGH.
A smooth crossover track with a touch of Ibiza summer style and a bass flavour.

ANIMALS – MARTIN GARRIX
Heavy hitting thumper with a killer hook that became a summer anthem.

JACK – BREACH.
Played/sampled EVERYWHERE on the island this summer and reflecting the growing popularity of the Bass sound.

TEN WALLS – GOTHAM
A dirty, underground progressive house track that always seems to surface in Ibiza each summer.
