Speculation surrounding the summer plans of Ibiza legend, Carl Cox, is beginning to mount after the islands biggest commercial media outlet, Ibiza Spotlight, hinted that Cox may not be playing Tuesday nights at Privilege this summer. The gossip has fuelled rumours that Cox will depart Privilege and move across the road to its arch rival Amnesia on Monday nights. Last season Cox, agreed an in-house deal with Privilege for two monster Tuesday July dates under the Pure Carl Cox banner, which were announced in January of last year. With Resistance already confirmed by Privilege, there has been unusual radio silence with regard to news of Carl Cox dates at the Worlds Biggest Club, suggesting all is not well there.

Cox is also the Global Brand Ambassador for Resistance, which is currently promoted by Ultra at Privilege. However, he did not play for them in Ibiza last year, instead making only three other guest Ibiza appearances, one at Music On and Hyte and one at Benimussa Park for Game On. The blog understands that Cox once again, may not play for Resistance this season in Ibiza, especially if the rumours are true and he signs for Amnesia on Monday nights, but we will have to await official announcements to be sure. There is also the possibility that Cox will once again play a Birthday gig for Loco Dice and Hyte at DC10 this August and whispers he could play the new look Pacha as a one off.

Having been caught off guard with the departure of Sven Vath and Cocoon, Amnesia have been working hard to try and find a suitable replacement. Word on the ground in Ibiza is that Amnesia will promote a number of one off parties on Monday nights, similar to the Pure Carl Cox concept, while retaining a distinct techno beat to the night. While they are said to have a few surprises up their sleeve, Cox would still be considered their anchor Monday night resident and is rumoured to be playing at least two dates at the San Rafel club, now ready to embark on a brave new direction this year.
