Apart from the Flower Power party at Pacha and a few bars in the West End, 80’s and 90’s music, rarely gets a promotion on the Island of Ibiza. Clubs are more interested in the contemporary artists that push the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) sound where superstar DJ’s commanding a high ticket price are much more lucrative than a non celebrity DJ spinning 80’s and 90’s music. Thankfully, Ibiza’s most beautiful Club Es Paradis, is set to offer a unique, special edition, water party entitled “I Love The 80’s & 90’s” every Monday night from May 28th. Its a great idea, and lets face it, for my generation in their forties, 80’s music is the new sixties.
Monday night is one of the most competitive Club nights in Ibiza, with some big name DJ’s such as Tiesto, Armin Van Burren and Richie Hawtin all in action across the Island, so this party offers a real alternative to the Ibiza Holidaymaker of a certain age. The “Pump Up The Jam” party, will feature leg warmers, big hair do’s and Lycra, which were all associated with the era. The whole Club will go retro for the night, with Dancers in Roller Boots, shell suits and shoulder pads. It promises to be an event of nostalgic fun and a party with some of the best music ever produced, from an era that gave birth to the Electronic Dance Music genre.
