Following on from Part I of our three part series, is the second instalment of what we think will be the trending in Ibiza this summer. Once again we preview some of the places, parties and people, that we expect to light up the Ibiza landscape for 2013.

DJ Finnebassen.

Norwegian DJ Finnebassen.

Last year it was Solomun, this season it might just be a 24 year old deep House DJ from Oslo, who makes the breakthrough on the Island of Ibiza. All the right noises are being made about the emerging talent of an artist who rates Solomun, Maceo Plex and Art Department as his influences. A big pointer in his direction has been the recent signing of Finnebassen by David Vincent of Sankeys Ibiza, the club that introduced Solomun to the Island last season. Vincent is regarded as one of the Industry’s best judges with an ear for spotting emerging talent and cultivating their style in the bass driven environment of his underground bunker in Playa Den Bossa. Finnebassen has been signed for 14 exclusive shows at Sankeys this summer and is rated as one to watch by a number of good judges within the Industry. Finnebassen’s sound and smooth style, is ideally suited to the summer environment of Ibiza, so expect to hear a lot more of his name on the Island this season.

Nagai Restaurant

“We believe that wonderful Sushi should be enjoyed thoroughly and in good company. Our Fusion Cuisine is a true example of Ibiza’s international mix of beautiful people and influences” is the tagline that greets visitors to the Nagai Restaurants website located in the middle of famous restaurant mile on the San Joan road from Ibiza town. The mile is full of some of the best restaurants and venues on the Island reflecting a more real Ibiza experience. Bambuddha Grove, Cicale, La Paloma, Aura and now Nagai, are starting to highlight the regions understated style with its more natural and organic Ibiza feel. There is nothing more pleasant than to relax under the open stars of an unspoilt Ibiza with excellent hospitality, good food, friends and music.Unpretentious and simple but stylish in its own unique way, Nagai is well worth checking out for something different when in Ibiza and then after dinner, on to nearby Aura, to dance the night away with DJ Antz. Here is a review I wrote for Tripadvisor on my visit to Nagai last year.

Sankeys.

What a breath of fresh air Sankeys has been to the Island of Ibiza. A club that finally delivered a seven day underground experience, that got the mix just right. Last season Sankeys hosted three critically acclaimed and popular parties in Diynamic Neon, Carnival and Viva Warriors. Not a VIP in sight, the club attracted real people into good music and technically gifted DJ’s, who where there not just to make an appearance but to be part of the crowd on the dance floor. Sankeys allowed DJ’s to make a direction connection with the floor, due to the intimate low ceiling Basement and Spektrum rooms, which condensed the dirty bass driven sounds to reverberate through the bones. The master of ceremonies at Sankeys, is the talented David Vincent, who’s musical pedigree is much respected within the industry. Vincent is a guy who is passionate about the music and creating a true, DJ led party experience. Not happy to rest on his laurels, David Vincent has continued to build on last years success, by putting together a 2013 schedule that has the potential to explode this summer. Along with the confirmed Viva Warriors, Carnival and Dirtybird events, Diynamic Neon and Fuse, are also expected to return to the Sankeys ticket this season. Throw in some fresh new names like Finnebassen, the rumoured pair of Flying Circus and Hypercolour and a blind man could see the potential the Club has for “the place to be in 2013”.

Elrow

A real Mediterranean party experience in the true style of Ibiza. Spanish flair, colour, carnival atmosphere and flamboyance, combined with an iconic venue and room in Privilege, make the Elrow party one of the must do’s for any party clubber in Ibiza this summer. Last season the party had the unique ability to capture the true essence of Ibiza, a fun, inclusive and happy experience with an uplifting soundtrack from the likes of Carl Cox and Solomun. Some Spanish parties prefer to concentrate on the experience and not so much the music. Elrow has successfully got the mix right and has created a party that combines the best of both worlds. As dancers on stilts pour complimentary cava to the dancefloor, as the Ibiza sun rises through the iconic glass dome Vista Room of Privilege, you then start to get to a feel, for what a real Ibiza party is about.
