|Swedish House Mafia@Ushuaia summer 2011|
At present, Swedish House Mafia, have yet to confirm any dates for Ibiza 2012. This is not normal for Ibiza and it is fuelling the rumours on the Island that all is not well with the SHM and Ibiza relationship. A split from Pacha last November, left the Swedes without a residency on the Island for 2012. Reports suggest the Swedes were not happy playing as a trio at Pacha for so many dates. Privilege, then became the hot favourites to host four live SHM shows and negotiations between the two began. These negotiations broke down in April and rumour abounded that the reason was due to the Swedes inability to commit as a Trio, to four shows in Privilege, which in turn fed the SHM break up rumour. Last season SHM also played the daytime venue Ushuaia, but the trio were not present for every show. One or two of the group played and billed it as a SHM event. Reports suggest that Privilege were not prepared to accept a watered down version of SHM and Ushuaia may be having second thoughts on this issue also. Dates Confirmed swedish-house-mafia-
Over ten days ago, Robert Bot, conducted an interview with Axwell, where he confirmed that “We wont go to Privilege this summer, we have decided to do Wednesdays at Ushuaia Beach Hotel in July and August“. Interestingly, official Swedish House Mafia media outlets have failed to confirm Axwell’s statement. Ushuaia Beach Hotel, have not confirmed it either and it is understood that both parties are still in negotiations with regard to the finer details of the contract. The “Definition” of what is a Swedish House Mafia show, is sure to be an integral issue in negotiations and Ushuaia will not want to be paying over the odds for a party that does not include Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello. Last season, Ushuaia, were happy to let it slide and allow their SHM parties to run without the presence of all three members of Swedish House Mafia. This season, as the cracks begin to show, Ushuaia, may not be in such a benevolent mood. Ushuaia, have stated that they are “hopeful” that an announcement on the SHM/Ushuaia party will be made this week. The official tourist season started in Ibiza on May 1st and the lack of a SHM announcement on their Ibiza summer schedule, confirms there is more to this story than meets the eye. The blog will keep followers updated on any news from Ibiza when it breaks.
