Pressure Mounts On Guy Gerber As Ibiza Court Case Looms.
A recent expose article by investigative journalist Annabel Ross has heaped more pressure on Ushuaia Entertainment artist Guy Gerber. The article, the result of a three-year investigation, was published under The Politics Of Dancing title on Substack. It was a follow-up on the alleged rape accusations made against the Israeli DJ in 2016, citing three more women who have come forward after the initial claims made by Ibiza-based DJ Mavi de Mars, who claims Gerber drugged and raped her at a villa after-party in Greece in 2012. The three anonymous women say they were also drugged and violently raped by Gerber soon after the Greece incident from April to July 2013.
Notably, the report links Gerber to Sean “Diddy” Coombes, who is currently under investigation in America for sex trafficking, racketeering and 120 allegations of sexual misconduct over two decades. Ross states, “Diddy and Gerber were introduced by Ralph Moore, then an editor at Mixmag and acted as co-executive producer on the 11.11 album, a collaboration by the two. Moore was also a close associate of the late DJ Erick Morillo, who died of acute ketamine toxicity in September 2020, three days before he was due to be in court on rape charges.”
The article cites interviews provided by Gerber, where he talks about his drug use, hotel room orgies and the availability of women at his parties. Gerber also refers to American singer and songwriter Lana Del Rey as his ultimate Ibiza closing party girl because “I heard she sleeps with a lot of people in the industry.” Ibiza is again mentioned as the venue for Diddy’s infamous Ibiza Villa party hosted to celebrate Gerbers birthday.
On her Instagram Account, Annabel Ross posted, “ Reflecting on how Diddy was able to get away with his abuse for decades, including throughout the same timeframe as Gerbers alleged assaults, and keeping in mind that both Diddy and Gerber have been accused by multiple women of drug-facilitated rape the connection between the two men is compelling if not outright troubling”.
.
Her lethal sorcery.
Significantly soon after the publication of the Ross article, a prominent Israeli news and general-content website, Ynet, picked up on the story and published detailed accounts of the women who claimed Gerber raped them. Ynet also contacted Gerber’s legal team to request a right of reply. They refuted Ross’s publication on Substack as gossip. They stated that the publication was damaging the good name of Guy Gerber with rape allegations that never took place with anonymous girls in the absence of any evidence or police reports.
It was also the first time Gerber had publicly referred to his defamation claim against Mars since it was filed in an Ibiza court in January 2024. They commented, “For the past two years, a criminal libel trial has been going on against her, which has already passed the evidence stage, and we are currently awaiting the verdict in which the truth will come to light.”
However, Mavi de Mars has contradicted Gerber’s account on the status of the defamation case on her Instagram account, claiming, “The defamation case is in progress. We have submitted our witness list, so the next stage is for my witnesses and me to be summoned to the trial.”
The Ross investigation also published details of the amount Gerber is suing Mavi de Mars, which is close to a million euros. €150,000 for “the moral damages caused by the illegitimate intrusion into my client’s right to honour and image” and nearly €750,000 “in lost earnings plus interest.” Gerber also requested that Mars pay a bond of €1.2 million. Ross claims that the Gerbers defamation case and the high amount of money it demands is “a classic example of a strategic lawsuit against public participation, SLAPP, which aims to silence and wear down critics and accusers via expensive, drawn-out legal proceedings and financial threats.”
In Ibiza, Gerber is currently an artist performing for Ushuaia Entertainment, the company jointly owned by Abel Matutes Prats, CEO of Palladium Hotel Group and Yann Pissenem, CEO of The Night League, to manage their nightclub and entertainment business. Gerber’s career appeared buried when his Rumours and Mirror Games parties were suspended by his own promotion company Island Hospitality until there was a “firm resolution” of the rape allegation “compatible with the right to the presumption of innocence of every citizen”. The company added, “The values of the company Island Hospitality are based on integrity and honesty, with an ethical and social commitment to respect and equality to protect all its employees, partners and customers. Island Hospitality has a zero-tolerance policy towards sexual harassment, racism and violence”.
It was a big surprise when, in 2023, Ushuaia Entertainment endorsed Gerber and signed him as an artist performing at Hi and a residency at Playa Soliel. Many media outlets on the island, including this blog, took the decision not to promote Gerber’s parties until the rape allegations were resolved. Gerber also appeared at Amnesia but for just one party. By endorsing Gerber, Ushuaia Entertainment weakened the claims of Mavi de Mars, and voices inside the Golden Triangle whispered that Mars was telling lies and Gerber was innocent. That consensus was the predominant one held by the industry in Ibiza and within editorial circles in the dance music scene. That is evident from the silence of the press coverage surrounding the case. However, in the wake of the Space and Privilege takeovers and outside of clubbing circles, the weight of public opinion in Ibiza is not with Ushuaia Entertainment.
For the past twenty-two years, I have observed Ushuaia Entertainment grow from a small beach club venue to the international brand that it is today. It has been sure-footed and professional, keeping out of politics, polishing a positive image and avoiding bad press thanks to the Midas touch of Yann Pisssenem. The Gerber affair is the first misjudged step they have taken from a public relations viewpoint. They have more to lose than gain by risking their good reputation for a DJ of Gerber’s calibre. In light of the fresh revelations in the Annabel Ross article and its publication in a mainstream news outlet in Israel, the blog requested a comment last Monday from Ushuaia Entertainment asking if there was any change in the company’s position on Guy Gerber. To date, there has been no response. In media circles, no reply is considered a reply. In this situation, I would guess not all partners of Ushuaia Entertainment would agree on the Gerber position.
Along with a major news outlet picking up on the story, another significant development in the Gerber case is the introduction of high-profile American Lawler and politician Tony Buzbee, who now represents Mavi De Mars on a pro bono basis. Buzbee is currently representing over 120 people in sex trafficking, racketeering and allegations of sexual misconduct against Sean Diddy Coombs. This should turn up the heat in the Franco-Spanish kitchen in Ibiza.
They say all truth passes through three stages: first, it is ridiculed; second, it is violently opposed; and third, it is accepted as self-evident. We have passed this story’s first two stages and are now at the third stage, which may be the longest. The defamation case will be heard in Ibiza in the coming months, and a verdict can be expected in the new year.
For those who live on the island of Ibiza, many will testify to her lethal sorcery that can have you flying high one day and in the gutter the next.
It would be very Ibiza that on Tanits island, one woman’s bravery, resilience and strength in the face of injustice could lead to the fall of an Empire.
