American DJ, Mark Kinchen, aka MK, is rumoured for a residency at Ibiza Rocks this season. The venue is now concentrating on pool parties rather than live events, after issues with licencing last year. Having built up a loyal fanbase of young British holidaymakers, the San Antonio Hotel has already confirmed Craig David, Stormzy, Toddla T and the hugely popular Lovely Laura and Ben Santiago. Monday, Thursday and Friday have yet to be announced, but it is expected that last seasons successful Cuckoo Land party will return on Friday, leaving Monday or Thursday as the most likely day for a rumoured MK residency.
With pool parties all the rage in Ibiza right now, Ibiza Rocks has put together a cool pool party program across all genres with very little EDM to be seen. This is sure to resonate with a particular type of party goer and one would suspect that Ibiza Rocks will play to their grimey, drum and base loving crowd, lending an edge to the sound of San Antonio which has prospered with the arrival of Ocean Beach and Eden. Cafe Mambo continues to attract the big name artists and the sunset venue has upped its game in recent years, attracting a more underground style of DJ.
With prices and accommodation still set at an affordable price, San Antonio will be the automatic choice for many party loving Brits this summer. The resort has big plans to re-develop its image and already many hotels and hostals have invested in refurbished rooms and product. It now has its own Vegan restaurant, owned and managed by two well known DJ’s on the underground tech scene, and there are a number of other new businesses starting to open and catering to a changing clientele with full English breakfasts now being replaced by vegetable juices and Acai Bowls. It looking like Ibiza 2018, could be a very successful one for Ibiza Rocks.
