One of the finest underground parties in Ibiza, Kehakuma, is rumoured to be joining up with German min tech label, Kompakt for a series of parties at Space this summer. What is turning out to be an exciting season, with a number of new parties being mentioned in dispatches, Ibiza 2015 looks set to raise the bar for electronic music aficionados. Kehakuma has always been regarded as a quality party with near cult status and a loyal following of fans. One of the big surprises of last season was the move by Spanish party Elrow to join the Japanese themed Kehakuma event at Space. Kehakuma had once shared billing with Richie Hawtins Enter party, so it was unexpected to see it side by side with the brash extravagance of Elrow. There were mixed reports about Elrow/Kehakuma experience in Ibiza last season, but the general consensus was that Kehuakuma was lacking a bit of oomph alongside Elrow. Therefore, there may be some truth in the rumour that now suggests that Kompakt will join Elrow and bring a new dynamic to the party.
Kompakt will certainly put the cat amongst the Ibiza pigeons as the label is well regarded by DJ’s and producers. It was founded in 1998 by Wolfgang Voight who was joined by Micheal Mayer soon after. The label is home to Gus Gus which had one of the Ibiza tracks of the summer last year with Maceo Plex’s remix of Crossfade. Kompakt also houses the talents of The Orb, Superpitcher, Agoria, Todd Terje and Maceo Plex. Many of these artists will be expected to make an appearance at Space this season and with very little min tech action on Saturday nights, the party should do quiet well for itself especially with Ants ending at Midnight across the road at Ushuaia. Rumours suggest the party will open mid to late June and run for two months. With much more exciting news in the air, Ibiza 2015 looks set to be on fire this season. Perhaps now is a good time book a trip to the White Isle for a summer of fresh parties under the Mediterranean skies.
