One of the islands best known and loved independent media outlets, Ibiza Voice, has ceased its online publication. In a message on its website, CEO Jean Luis stated ” Ibiza Voice was the magazine of reference for clubbers and music fans and I am deeply proud of all we accomplished. It was the best job I ever had, working with incredible people from all over the world. But 13 years is a long time to do any job, even the best one. It is with heavy heart I have decided to pull the plug on Ibiza Voice. Every great story has an ending, and it is time for me to seek new adventures”
Alongside the late Cadenza promoter, Sam Guetta who died in 2012, Luis a Frenchman by birth, was the driving force behind the independent publication that catered to the clubbing industry in Ibiza. It ran a well observed column entitled Ibiza Hype, Lies and Gossip which published sharply written opinion pieces on island club politics and was known for the quality of its interviews and podcasts. With much of the islands media dependant on advertising and club commissions, editorial policy can be very much sanitised but Ibiza Voice was less corporate and more associated with the free spirit of the island. Coming on the back of the loss of Space and Pacha, it will be sadly missed.
