Ibiza Airport Stats for 2014

The summer of 2014 in Ibiza and Formentera was a good performing season for the island with an overall increase of 8.3% in passenger footfall through Ibiza airport. Only two countries, Russia and Ireland, showed negative growth on the statistics from the same ten month period, January to October, in 2013. The big spending Russians were a regular sight in Playa De Bossa and upmarket establishments in 2012 but it seems they have not taken to the island and 2014 figures displayed a worrying 62% drop which equates to 3,300 people. Over 25,480 Irish passengers were down by 1,100  people on 2013 returns. Passengers from the UK were up by 1.8% to 794, 662 making them the second strongest performing sector after the Spanish market which grew by 6.44% with a footfall of 1,057,680 passengers. Good news for the island was the return in strength of the German market which had begun to fade a little over the last few years. The Germans were up 12.5% to 330,512 passengers through the airport from January to October. The Spanish, English and German markets have been the traditional powerhouses of the Ibiza tourist industry for the last four decades. The Italian market, one of the main reasons for the popularity of Formentera and Music On at Amnesia, performed strongly once again, up 8.64% to 348,659. The figures do not include passengers that arrive by ferry or boat.
