As I sit typing this blog post, beads of sweat trickling down my brow and the crickets serenading the basking sun, the local weather agency in Ibiza, AEMET, has issued a yellow weather alert citing temperatures to hit a sizzling feel of 46c!! The Heatwave, rising up from The Sahara Desert and blocking cool air from the Atlantic, is predicted to remain with us for the month of August.  Traditionally the hottest day in Ibiza peaks around August 9, but last year the month of July was hotter and noticeably this year already, there was very little of a Spring season. It’s been a strange season for everybody, with advance reports suggesting that bookings are slow for the second half of August, so keep an eye open for late deals and discounts during this time. If travelling to the island this month, be sure to take extra sun protection and hats for small children and elderly people to avoid sunstroke and overheating.
