Best Ibiza Parties Mid Season Report

The Ibiza 2012 clubbing season is now well under way as we reach the month of August. Its been quite an interesting season so far with the winds of the European economic recession blowing change across the landscape of the Islands clubbing scene. The Ibiza-super-clubs- have been complaining and threatening not to open next year. There have been a number of causalities, most notably Twice As Nice at Es Paradis. Other parties that failed to ignite included Monza, Garlands, Gatecrasher and Bacinalli. Mondo Loco departed Eden mid season, while the indie music night Propaganda, jumped into bed with Es Paradis after a break up with Sankeys, which seems to be a very temperamental club, having little time for losers. That said, Sankeys has made a name for itself and is one of the rising stars of the Ibiza club scene at the moment. Below are the parties that are doing well this season in Ibiza….

Enter.Kehakuma@Space, Thursdays.

As predicted earlier in the year, Richie Hawtins new night at Space, called Enter, is doing very well for itself and is right up there for inclusion as the best newcomer award. The crowds are flocking to the party which features fine techno and minimal sounds, with Mr Hawtin serving the Sake in his own bar, which he imports direct from Japan. A cool crowd with a great vibe and atmosphere.

Avicii@Ushuaia, Sundays.

A daytime party that is smashing it in Ibiza at present. Very popular with a younger crowd into their big room commercial house sound. A fantastic open air atmosphere with a talented DJ who knows how to play a crowd. A serious contender for best newcomer this season.

Carnival@Sankeys, Saturdays.

Really making a name for itself as one of the leading, alternative non commercial nights, on the Island. Heidis Jackaton party can road block the club which is becoming the new DC10 on the Island. Underground, edgy and progressive house music, that is offering something different from the norm, in a low ceiling and industrial atmosphere.

Paradice@DC10, Thursdays.

Jamie Jones continues to be one of the most sought after DJ’s on the Island, with a near cult following. Having made his name at the DC10 club, he now has his own residency there in association with his Hot Creations record label. A very popular party with the discerning clubber, who knows their music. Underground House with its own unique style. Will go head to head with Carnival as one of the best Underground nights of the season.

Cream@Amnesia, Thursdays.

One of the most established parties on the Island, Cream continues to attract quiet a loyal following of clubbers who like their Trance music. Had serious competition from the new ASOT party with Armin Van Buuren at Privilege on Monday nights, but seems to be just edging ahead of that one as we reach the mid way mark of the season.

Cocoon@Amnesia, Mondays.

Just about hanging on in there as the leading Monday night party, as both the Tiesto and Van Buuren nights are still finding their feet. Lost Richie Hawtin and Marco Carola (who may return next season) but Sven Vath has been putting in some serious sets and the addition of Adam Beyer has been a success. Not as crowded as it used to be, but still a big player on the Island.

Ibiza Rocks, Wednesdays.

Way out in front unchallenged, as the Islands leading, live music party. Ed Sheeran, Two Door Cinema Club, New Order, Happy Mondays, Kaiser Chiefs, Kasabian and Plan B, are just some of the big names that the venue is attracting this year. A young festival crowd make this one of the best party atmospheres unique to the live music arena.

David Guetta@Pacha, Thursdays.

Still the undisputed King of commercial house on the Island of Ibiza. Glam and chic crowd with a smashing atmosphere from a DJ and producer who really makes his presence felt in the VIP surroundings of the Pacha club. The crowds continue to road block the party and its one that the ladies and models really seem to enjoy. Baring a disaster will once again claim the best commercial house party of the season award.

Carl Cox@Space, Tuesdays.

Cox’s style of  House music is ideally suited to the Mediterranean summer. No other big name DJ understands the Island as well as Cox does and he normally reserves his bet sets for Space, his spiritual home. As reliable as and consistent as the Gold Index, a night with Carl Cox sets the standard for the Ibiza/Balearic quality house sound.
